Teaching wasn’t my first calling in life—it was a leap of faith. After graduating university, I spent two years working in finance. On paper, it made sense, but something was missing. I had always dreamed of living in Europe and exploring its many corners, so I decided to try teaching as a way to make that dream a reality. I never expected it to become my passion.
That first opportunity took me to Budapest, Hungary, where I taught English to the entire primary school. It was challenging, often chaotic, and utterly fascinating. That year, I got my feet wet as an educator while also getting to travel to several countries, immersing myself in different cultures and witnessing things I had only ever read about.
After Budapest, I moved to Moscow—and that’s where everything changed. For the first time, I stepped into the role of a full classroom teacher, responsible for all subjects, not just English. It was in Moscow that I truly fell in love with this profession. I discovered the joy of guiding young minds across math, science, literature, and beyond, and I knew I had found my path.
I lived in Moscow for three wonderful years before stepping away for a two-year adventure that took me to three more European countries: Bulgaria, Albania, and Romania. Each offered new challenges, new colleagues, and new perspectives on education. But Moscow kept calling me back.
This year marks my third year back in this vibrant city, and I feel more at home here than ever. When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll find me studying Russian (a never-ending journey!), catching up with friends over a good meal, staying active with exercise, or experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
I’m proof that sometimes the best career is the one you never planned for—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
