Today, on the last school day of the year, ENS Mosfilm held a Sport Day.
Teachers and assistants welcomed children and parents carrying picnic blankets. With music playing, balls and sports equipment set out on the playgrounds, everything was ready to celebrate the end of the school year. The day began with a warm-up: the children carefully copied each rhythmic movement—keeping an eye on how well their parents were doing, too.
Mums and dads laughed and smiled at their children’s jumps and push-ups, not yet realising they would soon need that fitness themselves in the competitions. As soon as the warm-up ended, young gymnasts performed on stage. Throughout the year they had practised with hoops, worked on splits, and perfected ball-rolling skills. Meanwhile, the youngest children were already getting ready for their age-group races. The boys and girls remembered all their coaches’ tips and ran towards the finish line under the bright sun.
To thank parents for their support and loud applause, the children then sent mums and dads to the adults’ race. High heels, dresses, white shirts, and even work calls on the phone didn’t stop the adults from running around their beloved school to the children’s cheers. There were no losers—everyone received a participation medal.
One of the most exciting activities was a surprise called water balloons: each child, in turn, had to throw a small water balloon at a teacher. If the teacher caught it, the “water bomb” flew right back to the children, who squealed with delight as droplets landed on dresses, T-shirts, shorts, and the happy faces of our little ones. Agility was also put to the test in a speed challenge: carrying water in small cups. Here, the children definitely outperformed their mums and dads.
For music lovers, a music club was set up in the shade of the trees, where anyone who wished could play instruments with the music teacher or even create their own composition. The grand finale of the sports celebration was a tug-of-war competition—and the winners were… the girls!
By then everyone was hungry, and families happily spread out their picnic blankets. Berries, fruit, vegetables, and, of course, delicious ice cream on such a hot day awaited all our guests to round off the celebration.
Thank you to every child and parent for being with us throughout the year. We wish you a bright summer and wonderful travels—and we look forward to seeing you all in September!
