Do you know how much sugar there is in 100100 g of honey? Or how the human body works? Year 2 children discovered the answers to these and many other questions.
During the second half of September, the Year 2 class explored the topic “Healthy Eating and a Healthy Lifestyle.” The children measured the sugar content in different foods, discussed how people should take care of their health, and on October 6 the group visited the “Living Systems” Human Body Museum together with their teachers.
In addition to learning a lot about the structure of the human body from the museum guide’s talk, the children also made their own discoveries through hands-on experiments. For example, Year 2 pupils became “white blood cells” and chased bacteria and viruses out of a blood vessel, took part in breaking down protein in the stomach, observed how the skeleton moves when we pedal a bicycle, and—after walking through a moving tunnel—learned that our brain can sometimes trick us.
