On a frosty yet sunny day, January 26, the Nursery group (ages 3–4) at ENS Dobrynya held a beach party.
The day before, the youngest children made “fruit ice” pops in class. At home, they unpacked their swimsuits and flip-flops, pulled out bright accessories, and could hardly fall asleep under warm blankets while thinking about the exciting day ahead.
On Friday morning, lively music filled the room. All the children arrived in costumes, and the classroom decorations looked like a real beach: shells were scattered across warm sand, sun loungers were set out, the children splashed through “waves” made of different shades and textures of blue fabric, enjoyed ice cream from a beach kiosk, and cooled off in a toy pool.
Later, the children and teachers created pictures using coloured sand, made a little “fish” pastry from bread, and crafted 3D collages from corrugated paper.
In a festive atmosphere, the children explored the letter “S” through the words “sky,” “sea,” “sand,” “sun,” and “sailing.” They practiced counting too—the bravest counted a shark’s teeth, while the others counted fish in the sea. They learned new vocabulary about sea animals and, most importantly, laughed a lot and had great fun together.
At the end of the day, the teachers made a photo collage as a gift for parents.
