Autumn Days at ENS Dobrynya

Autumn term-time is very busy for the children—week 6 of learning is coming to an end, and just think how much has already been done!

In the Nursery group, autumn is everywhere: the little ones colour golden and crimson leaves while learning to mix colours, and they genuinely celebrate when they manage to create a new shade. In fine-motor skills activities, they attach tiny colourful pieces of paper—little “leaves”—to a tree-shaped template, and bright autumn trees appear. The children enjoy looking at their work, but parents are even more delighted to see the creative results.

Only a few weeks have passed, and Nursery children are already starting to speak in funny mixed-up phrases when talking to teachers: “apple, ещё, please,” “много boy, мало girl.”

In Reception, each child made their own Humpty Dumpty, and the class built a wall for their characters using boxes of different sizes. Using the character in their activities, the children learn to compare sizes, practise number order, and understand and use the arithmetic signs “greater than, less than, equal to.” The original Humpty Dumpty story is already familiar to the children, so they invented their own little stories about him—how he loves sleeping on the wall because it is his home, and how his friends come to visit and they sit together and sing songs.
